[iris smiles, rising from her seat as the water finishes boiling so that she can pour even amounts into both hers and noctis's mugs. she likes to add a bit of milk to her hot chocolate, too, so she wanders over the fridge after she's done.]

It was nice, but it wasn't so nice when he was grilling you about some bad grades and you just wanted to go back to bed.

clarus amicitia is dead. but. she never really feels like he's dead, which is why iris can still laugh and joke about her father as if he's still alive. some part of her keeps expecting him to just turn up eventually, king regis at his side, because her father was always hardy and resilient and seemed somehow immortal. but the more time passes, the more she knows that that's less and less likely.

[Honestly, Noctis has assumed Iris, like Gladio, kept her grieving private - but that she laughs and jokes about her dad does surprise the prince a little. Still... it's nice to hear in a way. Talking, laughing, joking, remembering.]

Dads are good at that, I guess... [Not that he's had many (any?) late nights in the kitchen with his dad, but they'd had their moments elsewhere, and Regis had definitely grilled him about school and other things over dinners.] ... Ignis was usually the one grilling me over grades, though.
