[The way Alhaitham showed he cared about other people was usually cryptic at best and at arms length and terrible worded at worst. Aether was weirdly in neither group. Usually the smaller man could understand what he's getting at and follow his logic. It was nice in a way Alhaitham wasn't always used to. So when he offered to slow down and actually spend the night, Haitham found himself releasing a breath he didn't realize was being held. Knowing that's he'd be there so soon was also relieving. There wouldn't be time to dwell on other parts of the earlier conversation, either.

The flip side of this was not warning Kaveh whatsoever, yet again, that they were having company. He spent so long in and out of reading, thinking about Aether coming over while sending the messages back and forth, that he didn't bother with sending one to warn Kaveh. It went over much better (quieter) than he expected when the traveler and his companion showed up for the evening. Haitham wondered if he should be concerned that his housemate had come to realized Aether and Paimon were the only people Haitham ever extended such an invitation to.]

I picked up a few books on it and read through them. Although they were thorough in their explanations, No. I don't. I've never put the knowledge to practical use.

[It was nice to hear Kaveh play in the background while he read some nights. Tonight was no different. Alhaitham found himself looking up from his book every so often to look toward the hallway he was Paimon were down, and then over to glance at Aether. He had no plans to have the traveler to himself like this, but he would be lying if he said it wasn't nice to sit with just the two of them. A small pile of two books were picked out and sitting on the corner of the table a head of time for Paimon to take with her when they left in the morning.

The hand that wasn't holding his book held his wine, Alhaitham leaning back with his legs stretched out off the side, legs crossed at the ankle down on the floor. He was comfortable and could turn his full attention on Aether now. He really hadn't been paying attention to the book since the other's arrival, so it was easy to let his mind drift instead to noticing how little space the other took up.]

Do you play something? I don't think I'm mistaken in seeing you play something in the forest before.
