I will neither confirm nor deny your suppositions.
I might, however, have some odds and ends for any little mockingbird interested in peering behind the curtain and learning more about political stagecraft. But that isn't quite to your taste, now is it?
Hmm, I'm not sure who you're referring to but if you had something that needed doing, I could put the word out and I'm sure someone around here would be interested.
Who wouldn't want to be in your good graces afterall?
But one can be an ally without being a friend. Most of my friends don't have much political pull or financial means. And they don't need to. They're my friends, not resources.
[hmm. a difference in definition between allies, then. in rhea's eyes, she has companions, she has allies, she has pawns, and she has resources — but she's never truly considered anyone a friend. she has seteth and flayn, of course; she had wilhelm long ago. but friendship... true friendship is far beyond her reach now.
not that she's going to admit to that in front of a former student, so...!]
It is wonderful to see you sparkle so brilliantly, Yuri.
I hope your friends will bring you joy and strength in all the years to come.
[Yuri had, on more than one occasion, attempted to truly keep everyone at arm's length but he'd consistently failed. It was impossible for him not to get attached to some people. Others, however, the corrupt nobles he manipulated, would never be considered 'friends'. He'd choke on the damn word, gag on it.]
Sparkling all the more brilliantly on account of your generous absolution of my transgressions.
He is some nondescript lord so-and-so who thinks his tithes can buy the Church, but owing to the fact that he has all but bribed a number of minor clergy by funding their personal projects, he has thus far wretchedly succeeded.
His latest move is to spread a rumor that I "favor" him, a notion which I find... repulsive, in a word!
I was planning to be rid of him sooner or later, but now I feel his penance must reflect a greater offense...

But that's quite all right, Yuri. As I promised, you are free, and it is not my desire to cage you.
I only think that you would play the game beautifully, if ever it interested you.

Despite excelling at it, it's not something I particularly enjoy but sometimes it's imperative to ensure you have allies.
